Galleria Nicola Perlini is pleased to present Cartoni, a solo exhibition dedicated to Paolo Masi (Florence, 1933 – 2026), one of the most significant Italian artists of the second half of the twentieth century, who recently passed away at the age of 92.

The exhibition focuses on the renowned series of Packaging Cardboards, initiated by the artist in 1974 and developed over more than four decades. In these works, Masi chooses corrugated cardboard – a humble, anonymous material, often already marked by time and urban life – as a surface to be transformed through cuts, tears, stitching, scratches, and painterly interventions. The cardboards are sometimes covered with tissue paper, crossed by cotton threads, or enclosed in plexiglass cases, becoming complex devices that oscillate between painting and sculpture.
